You will work across the full solution lifecycle, helping clients understand complex problems and shaping architectures that are pragmatic, secure, scalable and aligned to business needs. You will be deeply involved in technical decision‑making, from front‑end frameworks and API patterns to cloud service selection, integration design and non-functional requirements.
Responsibilities- Partner with clients to understand user needs, business goals and technical constraints and translate them into cloud‑native solution architectures.
- Lead architectural definition for digital services built predominantly with React.js front‑ends, Node.js/TypeScript back‑end services, containerised workloads and serverless patterns.
- Design services using AWS native capabilities such as Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate, SNS/SQS, S3, Step Functions and Amazon Cognito.
- Architect and model data solutions using NoSQL patterns, particularly DynamoDB.
- Produce clear architectural artefacts including high‑level designs, sequence diagrams, API specifications, security and integration patterns.
- Work with delivery teams to guide implementation and troubleshoot architectural challenges.
- Present solution options and recommendations to architectural review boards and senior stakeholders.
- Contribute to Version 1’s architecture community of practice.
- AWS Cloud Architecture Experience – Strong knowledge of AWS services and cloud‑native design.
- DynamoDB / NoSQL Data Knowledge – Experience modelling NoSQL data structures and aligning data models with performance needs.
- Technical Leadership & Collaboration – Ability to communicate technical approaches clearly.
- Delivery-Focused Mindset – Familiarity with agile delivery, DevOps, CI/CD and monitoring.
- Experience delivering solutions for government or regulated sectors.
- Background in microservices, event‑driven architecture or serverless.
- Knowledge of GOV.UK design and service standards.
- Exposure to AI/GenAI solution integration.
- Participation in architecture/engineering communities.
