Job Description

We are looking for an experienced technical person to join our Engineering Capability team as a Solution Architect. As part of our rapidly expanding team, you will have opportunities for career growth and to influence the strategic direction of our technology solutions, with a focus on Cloud (Azure & AWS).

You will work within the Engineering Sector team, alongside other Technology Principals. Key responsibilities include understanding customer needs, ensuring successful technical delivery, establishing technical direction, delivering technical excellence, and driving innovation.

Your role will involve a mix of strategic planning and hands-on problem-solving. You should have experience working with large finance or insurance companies, delivering critical or high-profile projects, and be comfortable with application modernisation and common technologies and languages.

Qualifications

  • Broad Experience in Technology Deliveries: Demonstrated experience in various technology projects.
  • Comprehensive Application Knowledge: Expertise in architecture, engineering, integration, testing, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure).
  • Software Delivery Expertise: Skilled in delivering high-quality, reliable, scalable, and secure software using Agile methodologies, design patterns, DevOps tools including test automation, and monitoring.
  • Leadership in Technical Workstreams: Experience in managing large and complex technical projects within global, multi-supplier environments.
  • Practical Engineering Background: Ability to lead development teams, resolve technical issues, and prioritise non-functional requirements.
  • Technical Excellence and Risk Management: Capable of ensuring excellence in technical delivery, identifying and mitigating risks, and recovering challenged projects.
  • Effective Communication: Strong skills in communicating with senior stakeholders, negotiating, and influencing positive technology outcomes.
  • Commercial Awareness: Ability to drive business growth through pre-sales activities, presentations, bid responses, technical and commercial documentation, project forecasting, planning, and estimation.
  • Estimation Skills: Proficient in producing and validating estimates for projects and programs.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritise time across multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Promote Best Practices: Advocate for reuse and improved working practices, processes, guidance, and templates.
  • Team Management: Experience in managing, coaching, and developing team members, including performance management.
  • Tech Community Involvement: Active in the tech community and up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, standards, legislation, and regulations.
  • Excellent English: Strong verbal and written English skills.
