This role is designed for a commercially minded Finance Business Analyst who thrives in complex environments and enjoys getting to the root of business and finance challenges. You’ll lead early-stage diagnostics, shape insight-driven recommendations, and help senior stakeholders understand not just what needs to change — but why it matters. You’ll operate at the intersection of consulting, analysis, and finance transformation, working closely with clients to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities across core finance functions and operating models.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead High-Impact Business & Finance Diagnostics

You’ll independently run structured diagnostics, from discovery through to insight and recommendation. This includes:

  • Asking the right questions to quickly uncover root causes
  • Rapidly understanding client context, priorities, and constraints
  • Identifying gaps, inefficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Interpreting diagnostic outputs and turning analysis into clear, actionable insights
  • Developing credible options appraisals that support informed decision-making

You’ll clearly articulate:

  • What the findings mean
  • The consequences of inaction
  • The operational, financial, and organisational impacts for the business

Apply Deep Finance Domain Expertise

You’ll bring hands‑on experience working with Finance functions in consulting or complex enterprise environments, with the ability to diagnose and assess:

  • Record‑to‑Report (R2R)
  • Order‑to‑Cash (O2C)
  • Procure‑to‑Pay (P2P)
  • Tax and Treasury processes

You’ll evaluate finance process maturity, controls, data flows, and performance metrics, and understand how finance operating models, governance, and regulatory considerations affect wider business outcomes.

Engage, Influence & Challenge Stakeholders

You’ll work confidently with stakeholders across multiple levels, including SMEs and middle management, understanding their operational realities and pressures. You will:

  • Present findings, options, and recommendations clearly and credibly
  • Tailor messaging to suit different audiences
  • Facilitate discussions, respond to challenge, and manage expectations
  • Build trusted relationships while maintaining professional independence

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

  • Consulting Mindset & Analytical Strength

Proven ability to independently run diagnostics and discovery work. Strong analytical capability with a focus on insight, not just data. Confidence translating complex analysis into business‑relevant narratives.

  • Finance Transformation Experience

Hands‑on experience working with finance functions. Strong understanding of end‑to‑end finance processes and operating models. Ability to link finance issues to strategic, operational, and financial outcomes.

  • Personal Attributes

Self‑starter with an inquisitive, problem‑solving mindset. Comfortable operating in ambiguity, particularly during early‑stage engagements. Highly adaptable and collaborative.

Deliverables & Quality

Experience producing high‑quality outputs including diagnostic reports, executive‑level presentations, and clear, concise insight summaries.

This is a role for someone who wants to lead thinking, not just document requirements. You’ll have the autonomy to shape diagnostics, influence senior stakeholders, and play a key role in setting the direction of finance and business transformation initiatives. If you enjoy solving complex problems, engaging clients, and turning analysis into action — this role will stretch and reward you.
