This role sits within our Cloud Consulting team and is responsible for providing expert AWS, Linux/Unix, infrastructure, and cloud engineering consulting services across presales, design, build, and delivery. You will be a strong technical leader and communicator who can confidently guide customers, shape solutions, and deliver high‑quality engineering outcomes. A key focus of this role will be the development and delivery of innovative cloud database solutions, including migrations of procedural code (T‑SQL, PL/SQL) and data to modern open‑source platforms such as PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora. This role requires a self‑starter with deep hands‑on experience building infrastructure, cloud landing zones, and enterprise‑grade AWS solutions, complemented by at least 2 years of architecture experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert consulting across the full project lifecycle: concept, design, build, deployment, and support.
  • Lead and deliver AWS cloud solutions, infrastructure builds, and landing zone design & implementation.
  • Architect, design, and implement Linux/Unix and AWS environments.
  • Develop innovative solutions for cloud‑scale relational databases.
  • Migrate procedural code (T‑SQL, PL/SQL) and data to platforms like PostgreSQL and Aurora, ensuring full functional parity.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues across cloud, infrastructure, networks, and databases.
  • Contribute to DevOps processes and automation practices.
Customer Engagement
  • Work directly with customers to understand requirements, shape architectures, deliver solutions, and communicate best practices.
  • Lead workshops, presentations, and design reviews.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, owning the technical vision for solutions.
Team & Process
  • Mentor junior team members and share knowledge across the practice.
  • Produce high‑quality documentation, designs, and processes.
  • Collaborate in a structured ITIL / ISO20000 service management environment.
  • Contribute to the growth of the open‑source database capability within Version 1.
Qualifications RequiredTechnical Skills
  • 7+ years designing, building, and supporting Linux/Unix and AWS environments.
  • Minimum 2 years architectural experience designing cloud or infrastructure solutions.
  • Strong hands‑on experience in:
    • Cloud landing zone design and build
    • AWS infrastructure engineering
    • Cloud deployments (public & private)
    • Linux/Unix systems
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Relational & non‑relational databases (CAP, ACID)
    • One closed‑source platform (e.g., SQL Server)
    • One open‑source database platform with procedural capability (e.g., PostgreSQL, Aurora)
  • Experience migrating procedural code (T‑SQL, PL/SQL > PostgreSQL/Aurora).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving ability.
  • Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
Required Non‑Technical Skills
  • Ability to work independently and within collaborative teams.
  • Strong communication and customer‑facing skills.
  • Stakeholder management across multiple customer environments.
  • Experience in mentoring junior team members.
  • Solid documentation skills (designs, runbooks, processes).
  • Experience working with Public Sector IT environments (advantageous).
Desirable Skills
  • Professional cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with enterprise virtualization (VMWare, Hyper‑V, Citrix).
