We are seeking an experienced Cloud Data Architect with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google BigQuery. This role is hands‑on and will focus on designing, developing, and delivering scalable, secure, and high‑performing cloud data platforms to support analytics and business intelligence initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with internal technical teams, provide architectural leadership, define best practices, and ensure alignment between enterprise, application, and data architecture layers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and architect end‑to‑end cloud data solutions on GCP with a strong emphasis on BigQuery.
  • Work hands‑on with teams to implement scalable, secure, and cost‑efficient data platforms.
  • Provide architectural leadership and technical coordination across technical, application, and enterprise teams.
  • Offer coaching and guidance on GCP technologies, design patterns, and cloud architectural options.
  • Define and document architecture standards, integration patterns, and technical design artefacts.
  • Identify and resolve inefficiencies, gaps, or optimisation opportunities within cloud data environments.
  • Support the build and delivery of robust GCP solutions using appropriate tools, languages, and methodologies.
  • Promote reuse of existing components and reduce unnecessary customisation across solutions.
  • Lead or support technical escalations, troubleshooting, and incident response when needed.
  • Contribute to the future direction of cloud architecture and modern data platform strategy.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of ICT delivery experience, including at least 7 years architecting cloud solutions.
  • Strong hands‑on expertise in Google Cloud Platform.
  • Mandatory current Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification.
  • Deep proficiency with key GCP data services such as BigQuery, Dataplex, BigLake, Dataflow, and Cloud Composer.
  • Experience designing and implementing modern data warehouse and lakehouse architectures.
  • Proficiency in Terraform and infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
  • Strong understanding of multi‑tier distributed systems across hybrid or multi‑cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with open‑source technologies and modern software engineering methodologies.
  • Experience identifying process improvements, tooling opportunities, and automation enhancements.
  • Strong exposure to compliance or audit‑related activities such as ISO or NIS2.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to coach and upskill technical teams on cloud architectural best practices.
  • Experience working within both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
