As our new Business Development Director, you will play a crucial role in supporting and developing our strong footing in the Financial Services sector, leading large sales opportunities, and managing client engagements, among other responsibilities. The role will be part of a successful, growing team focused on enterprise opportunities. The team is made up of a number of salespeople, who generate new opportunities and/or lead on responses to large private sector technology programmes.
Responsibilities:
- You will lead large sales opportunities (7/8 figure sales opportunities) developed both directly through our Commercial team and/or through our strategic technology partnerships (Microsoft, AWS, Oracle and Red Hat).
- Lead on smaller sales opportunities/bids independently or with involvement from other members of the commercial team.
- You will be leading the execution of contracts awarded to Version 1 – client engagement, commercials, contracting, delivery practice engagement, and project mobilisation.
- Management of acquired customer accounts and partner engagements with Microsoft and AWS.
- As the Business Development Director, you will be supporting and delivering on the production of bids and tender responses.
- You will need to work across project managers, bid management, advisory services and delivery consultants to ensure the best quality bids are prepared and submitted and managed; this will include the preparation of documentation, tender responses, case studies and undertaking demonstrations during the selection process for large consulting project or managed services bids.
- Lead the pre-qualification process to ensure all customer sales opportunities and bids are fully qualified and identified as winnable.
- You will be liaising with Delivery teams to identify and secure resources for sales opportunities and bid preparation.
- Respond to detailed Customer Requirements documents.
- Preparation and delivery of Prospect and Client presentations of Version 1 propositions to customers.
- Preparation and delivery of presentations for use at various Version 1 customer events.
- Liaise with Partner Account Managers and Commercial Operations to ensure the successful delivery of presentations, tender responses, and contracts to Prospects and Clients.
- Support all levels of the Bid process lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Experience working as a successful business development director delivering IT Services and technology solutions into the Financial Services sector.
- Knowledge of the Financial Services Sector buying cycles and procurement processes, including Frameworks, Channel Partners (AWS/Microsoft), and complex bidding environments.
- Influencing skills: the ability to get people at multiple levels to deliver what you need on time and with high quality, even though they won’t report to you will be critical to the success of the role.
- Strong written skills in order to complete tender and internal documentation to a high standard – you must have excellent Word, Powerpoint and Excel skills. You’ll be highly attentive to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage at all levels across an organisation internally and externally.
- Good commercial awareness and sound understanding of project and business dynamics.
