Job Description
- Define and communicate user needs through journey maps, service blueprints, and experience models
- Plan and conduct usability testing and research activities to inform design decisions
- Design and iterate user flows, wireframes, and prototypes at appropriate fidelity
- Translate complex service requirements into clear, accessible user experiences
- Ensure designs meet accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2) and responsive design principles across web, mobile, and desktop
- Collaborate with interaction designers, researchers, and product managers to align on user outcomes
- Contribute to and maintain design documentation grounded in user needs and business requirements
- Support knowledge transfer and design capability building across project teams
- Champion user-centred design principles within multidisciplinary delivery teams
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Figma or equivalent design tooling
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX work, including research-led design decisions
- Familiarity with the GOV.UK Design System and GDS service design standards
- Understanding of WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and inclusive design principles
- Experience working within agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams
- Ability to communicate design rationale clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience using AI tools to support research synthesis, ideation, or design iteration
