The Role

We’re seeking an AI Security Lead who brings together deep technical insight with strong commercial acumen. This is a strategic and hands‑on role that spans pre‑sales, solution shaping, client advisory, and delivery leadership. You’ll lead security engagements across AI, ML, and data platforms ensuring trust, compliance, and resilience from concept through to deployment.

You’ll influence clients at all levels, guiding them through the unique risks of AI adoption. You’ll also support the growth of Version 1’s AI business by shaping solutions, estimating delivery effort, and contributing to bids and go‑to‑market strategies.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead client engagements across the AI and data security lifecycle, from early conversations and opportunity qualification to delivery and assurance
  • Shape secure‑by‑design approaches for AI/ML models, pipelines, datasets, and automated decision‑making systems
  • Support pre‑sales and commercial activity: define solutions, scope and estimate work, contribute to proposals, and influence decision‑makers
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients on emerging AI risks and compliance obligations
  • Deliver threat modelling, risk assessments, and adversarial security reviews
  • Guide the design of technical and organisational controls aligned to frameworks like NIST AI RMF and ISO/IEC 42001
  • Design and advocate for AI‑specific monitoring and detection capabilities
  • Mentor and develop others across the business – providing guidance, coaching, and knowledge‑sharing to upskill colleagues and grow internal AI security expertise
  • Contribute to thought leadership through webinars, whitepapers, and community events

About You

  • A strong communicator, with the ability to engage senior business and technical stakeholders alike
  • Skilled at simplifying complex AI risk topics and gaining buy‑in from non‑technical audiences
  • Experienced in scoping, estimating, and shaping security solutions in client‑facing roles
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and influencing strategic outcomes in regulated industries
  • Confident leading workshops, delivering presentations, and contributing to business growth

Qualifications

  • Robust cybersecurity background with hands‑on experience in AI and data security
  • Deep understanding of machine learning architectures, model vulnerabilities, and threat vectors (including LLMs and agentic systems)
  • Commercially aware, with experience supporting or leading pre‑sales, bids, and solution development
  • You will need to be based in UK and be Security Cleared
  • Knowledge of security and assurance standards including:
    • NIST AI Risk Management Framework
    • ISO/IEC 42001 & ISO/IEC 27001
    • OWASP LLM/Agentic Security guidance
    • Prior experience in regulated sectors (e.g. government, health, finance) is highly desirable
