As a Technology Principal (Security), you'll work directly with our largest government and financial services clients to solve their most complex digital and security challenges, applying critical thinking to break down problems and identify practical solutions – with performance, scalability, security, and resilience built in from the start. You might start your week reviewing a detection engineering strategy for a major government department, spend time with a delivery team working through threat modelling on a live service, then present a secure cloud architecture to a client's senior leadership team.

Your background building and deploying enterprise‑scale digital services in regulated and security‑conscious environments means you can credibly advise on what works in practice, using systems thinking to understand how security decisions connect across the broader service and business context. Whether that's designing SIEM architectures and detection engineering capabilities across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, architecting zero‑trust models for hybrid and multi‑cloud environments, helping a bank modernise their data platform while meeting strict regulatory requirements, or embedding AI security governance and DevSecOps practices across a delivery lifecycle – you bring both strategic thinking and hands‑on experience to every situation.

You apply frameworks such as NCSC guidance, ISO 27001, and Cyber Essentials as practical tools that shape better outcomes, enabling effective security risk management, not compliance checklists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and improve detection engineering strategies for government and financial services clients.
  • Lead threat modelling and secure cloud architecture design for live services.
  • Advise on SIEM architecture, zero‑trust models, data platform modernization, and AI security governance.
  • Collaborate with user researchers, product managers, software engineers, SOC analysts, and business stakeholders to balance perspectives while maintaining focus on risk and compliance.
  • Participate in business development – present to potential clients, shape security‑led value propositions, author technical proposals, and support new work acquisition.
  • Balance priorities across multiple engagements, often working to tight deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Progression from practitioner to accountability – proven modern software and security background with strategic thinking abilities and a learning mindset, progressing to take responsibility for complex, scaled deliveries with solution architecture experience and security at its core.
  • Large organisation delivery experience – delivered solutions for government departments or major financial institutions in environments with strict security, compliance, and governance requirements, possibly leading teams of architects or technical specialists.
  • Hands‑on technical experience – built and deployed enterprise‑scale digital services using modern approaches (microservices, APIs, hybrid and secure cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, data architecture, and system integration) with demonstrable application of zero‑trust principles, secure design patterns, SIEM architecture, security observability, and DevSecOps practices across the delivery lifecycle.
  • Government security and assurance experience – particularly GDS/GOV.UK or similar user‑centred design approaches, HMG security policy, Government Security Classifications, and assurance processes such as GovAssure or programmes requiring SC clearance.
  • Technical breadth and security leadership – experience across multiple domains including detection engineering, threat and exposure management, identity and access management, and AI security governance, with team leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Active in the security and technical community – staying current with technology trends, engaging with partners such as Microsoft on platform evolution, and contributing to professional development through knowledge sharing, publications, or industry bodies such as CREST or ISACA.
Benefits
