Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic Staff Nurses to join our Endoscopy team at Basildon Hospital.
Your role will be to access, plan, implement, evaluate, holistic, high quality and individualised care which respects our patient personal dignity and beliefs whilst maintaining a safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff and promoting effective communication within the care team and with colleagues, patients, relatives and visitors.
You will work collaboratively with the rest of our friendly team to provide and maintain the highest possible standard of nursing care including assessment and evaluation for patients in keeping with the philosophies of the endoscopy unit.
You will get the opportunity to perform procedures including Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Bronchoscopy and more complex procedures such as ERCP and EMR with plenty of chances to develop your management, clinical and educational skills in this busy unit supported by very experienced senior nurses.

Main duties of the job
- You will follow the care pathways for patients undergoing an endoscopy procedure ensuring pre, peri and post care is carried out to the highest standard.

- You will assist with the provision of an environment conducive to the education of staff.

- This includes assessment and evaluation for patients in keeping with:
- The philosophies of the endoscopy unit.
- The NMC Code of Professional Conduct (2008)
- The endoscopy units Policies and Protocols.
- Duties also to include the cleaning, maintenance and safe handling of equipment.

- Mentorship and Assessment in Health and Social Care settings (previously known as ENB 998)
Essential experience
- Demonstrable experience in an NHS setting
- IVI Cannulation
