We’re partnering with a leading national newsroom to support the recruitment of an SEO Editor who will play a key role in shaping audience growth across breaking news and evergreen content.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with strong editorial SEO experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working closely with journalists, editors and digital teams.
What you’ll be doing
- Identifying search opportunities and pitching SEO-driven content ideas.
- Optimising breaking news, features and evergreen journalism for search visibility across classic and AI-driven search platforms.
- Working directly with desk editors to plan ahead and develop search-led content strategies.
- Training and supporting reporters, editors and subs to improve SEO best practice across the newsroom.
- Crafting search-effective headlines, standfirsts and internal linking structures.
- Monitoring performance, analysing data and feeding insights back into planning.
What we’re looking for
- Proven editorial SEO experience in a newsroom or fast-paced digital publishing environment.
- Strong understanding of search trends, content optimisation and audience behaviour.
- Ability to collaborate confidently with editorial teams at all levels.
- Excellent writing, editing and headline optimisation skills.
- Familiarity with SEO tools (e.g. GSC, Trends, keyword research platforms).
- Curiosity around the future of search, including AI/LLM-driven discovery.
Work pattern
- Hybrid: 3 days per week in the office.
- Some flexibility required around working hours to support key publishing moments.
