Legal Cashier (Housing Management & Property Litigation) | Accounts | London
Salary: Up to £30,000 DOE
Working pattern: Predominantly remote (Accounts team currently WFH 5 days per week). Office attendance required as needed (typically once every other month, subject to business needs).
We’re working with a well-established, full-service UK law firm to recruit a Legal Cashier into their Housing Management & Property Litigation team in London.
This is a key finance role supporting a busy, high-volume department. You’ll play an integral part in ensuring smooth financial operations, resolving billing queries and supporting fee earners with day-to-day financial processes.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Preparing and issuing client invoices in line with agreed billing schedules
- Processing credit notes
- Liaising with fee earners to ensure accurate time recording and billing narratives
Query Resolution
- Investigating and resolving invoice and billing queries promptly
- Acting as a key point of contact between the HMPL team and Finance
Disbursement Management
- Monitoring and managing disbursement balances
- Ensuring timely allocation and recovery
You’ll be working closely with partners, senior fee earners and finance colleagues, so confidence and professionalism are essential.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar finance/accounts role within a law firm or professional services environment
- Strong understanding of legal billing processes
- Excellent knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules
- High attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Strong Excel skills and experience using legal finance systems (Elite, Aderant, Partner 4 Windows or similar advantageous)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Confident communicator, comfortable dealing with senior stakeholders
- AAT (or studying towards) would be advantageous but not essential.
