I'm working with a well-established London law firm who are looking to bring a Legal Cashier into their Accounts team on a permanent basis. They're open on level, happy to consider both senior and semi-senior cashiers, and the right person can start immediately or at short notice.
The role
Reporting into the Head of Accounts, you'll play a key part in the day-to-day running of client and office account functions, working in a busy finance team that processes high volumes across a varied caseload. It's a hands-on role with real ownership, and at the senior end there's scope to support more junior cashiers and contribute to process improvements.
Day-to-day will include:
- Processing client and office account transactions, including receipts, payments, transfers and journals
- CHAPS, BACS, Faster Payments and international/multi-currency payments via online banking
- Bank reconciliations across client and office accounts
- Posting supplier invoices, processing purchase ledger and weekly BACS payment runs
- Handling counsel fee notes, expert and agent invoices
- Residual balance investigations and clearing suspense accounts
- Supporting audits, reporting and ad-hoc finance projects
- Liaising with fee earners and partners to resolve account queries quickly and accurately
What we're looking for
- Solid experience in a Legal Cashier role within a UK law firm (essential)
- Strong working knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules and AML requirements
- Comfortable in a high-volume environment with tight deadlines
- Confident on legal practice management / accounting systems (Elite, Aderant, LEAP, Xero or similar)
- Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail
- A proactive, organised approach and the ability to communicate clearly with both finance colleagues and fee earners
- For the senior end: previous supervisory or mentoring exposure is a plus, but not essential
The details
- Central London, 5 days a week in office (no hybrid on this one)
- £45k+ depending on experience
- Permanent, immediate / short-notice starters preferred
- Established law firm with a friendly, tight-knit accounts team
