Construction Paralegal - Leeds - Β£26,228
I'm working with a growing, highly regarded law firm to find a Construction Paralegal for their busy Leeds construction team. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with an interest in construction law to join a large, nationally recognised contentious construction practice and gain first-class experience.
The team advises on complex, high-value construction disputes, including adjudications, arbitrations, Technology and Construction Court proceedings and cutting-edge Building Safety Act and post-Grenfell work for major residential portfolios. Previous paralegals have used this role as a genuine springboard into training contracts and pupillage.
The role
Supporting solicitors and partners across a varied caseload, your work could include:
- Case management on a fee-earning basis, diarising key dates and meeting court and adjudication deadlines
- Assisting with instructing technical experts and arranging inspections
- Liaising with clients, barristers and fee earners, and providing progress reports
- Drafting advice on construction disputes, including payments, extensions of time, loss and expense, defects and insurance issues
- Drafting advice on building and fire safety legislation and decarbonisation and net zero compliance
- Drafting submissions for adjudication and arbitration proceedings, and liaising with the court
- Legal research on relevant decisions and legislation, and helping compile client newsletters
What we're looking for
- A strong academic background to undergraduate level (LPC or SQE1 preferable but not essential)
- Previous experience as a litigation paralegal is advantageous but not essential
- Excellent drafting and communication skills, with high attention to detail
- Proactive, uses initiative, and comfortable managing a varied task list across different fee earners
- A real team player who is happy to pick up work as required

- Working arrangements: Minimum of 4 days in the office, with Friday typically a work-from-home day
- Reporting to: Geri Batchelor
- Interview process: First stage in person with the hiring manager and another member of the team, second stage with the Partner
