We're delighted to be working in partnership with a long-established, full-service law firm on the appointment of a Paralegal into their Property Securitisation team in Leeds.

Our client has been a fixture of the City of London legal scene for over 150 years, and today operates from offices in London, Leeds, Birmingham and Colchester, serving clients across England and Wales. Around 350 people strong with a growing international reach, they act for everyone from major multi-nationals to private individuals, alongside a substantial base of charities, housing associations and regulators. Their specialisms span Commercial/Corporate, Civil Litigation, Housing, Employment, Real Estate, Projects and Property Development.

The Securitisation team is ranked Tier 1 by both Chambers UK and Legal 500, sits at the forefront of the affordable housing sector, and works on transactions ranging from £1m to £500m.

The role involves supporting Partners and Solicitors, running your own caseload and getting properly involved in significant transactions from day one. Day to day, that means:

  • Identifying titles and obtaining Official Copy Entries and Office Copy Documents from the Land Registry
  • Undertaking title checks and wider property due diligence
  • Carrying out searches and obtaining items from Local Authorities and other third parties
  • Chasing outstanding items and keeping matters moving
  • Pre-completion Land Registry searches and post-completion work
  • Providing progress reports to clients, Partners and Solicitors
  • Helping organise, monitor and deliver the team's larger transactions, and supporting fellow paralegals when needed

It's a demanding role that rewards flexibility and the ability to juggle competing priorities well.

What we're looking for:

  • A minimum of 6 months' conveyancing experience (essential)
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical, well-organised approach
  • Good drafting skills and the ability to conduct effective legal research
  • Confident communicator who can explain things in plain English, with a strong client-service instinct
  • Comfortable prioritising a heavy workload to tight deadlines, sometimes with limited supervision
  • Competent across MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • A supportive team player – self-motivated, tenacious and calm under pressure

Desirable:

  • 2:1 degree or equivalent in Law (or an appropriate conversion)
  • LPC completed, or studying part time (or equivalent)
  • Experience with a Document Management System (DMS)

Location: Leeds
Salary: £27,000
Process: One stage, in person – straightforward and quick

Our client is committed to equal opportunities and to a workplace free from discrimination and harassment, and particularly welcomes applications from groups currently under-represented in the profession.
