I'm working with a well-established, full-service law firm on an excellent new opportunity for a Compliance Advisor to join their growing team in Birmingham. This firm has a long and respected history spanning over 150 years, with offices across England and a client base ranging from major multinational corporations to charities, housing associations and regulators. They've grown significantly in recent years and now employ around 400 people, with a growing international reach.

This is a newly created role reporting to the Head of Compliance, sitting within an established team that includes a Head of Risk, Senior Compliance Advisor, Data Information & Security Analyst and Compliance Coordinator.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Advising on SRA standards and regulations
  • Reviewing client AML due diligence and providing advice across varied client types
  • Establishing corporate structures and tracing ultimate beneficial owners
  • Advising on Source of Wealth and Source of Funds queries
  • Reviewing and updating compliance policies, plans and procedures
  • Supporting DPA and UK GDPR compliance
  • Running conflict checks, PEP and sanctions screening
  • Delivering compliance inductions and training
  • Supporting Lexcel accreditation and annual AML audits

What we’re looking for:

  • Over 3 years’ experience within a compliance function in a law firm, at advisor or analyst level
  • Strong working knowledge of the SRA Standards and Regulations and AML regulations
  • Experience with conflicts, DPA and UK GDPR at an advisory level
  • A track record of making decisions on compliance matters
  • Excellent communication, research and organisational skills
