We are seeking an experienced Systems Analyst with deep Financial Services expertise, including hands-on experience with structured products, to lead the technical discovery phase and define the technology roadmap for modernising and integrating existing systems. This role focuses on evaluating legacy architecture, mapping integrations, analysing data flows, and defining the technical transition approach for a long-term (12-month+) transformation programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Discovery & Systems Analysis
- Lead technical discovery across architecture, engineering, product, and business teams.
- Perform deep-dive analysis of:
- Current systems architecture
- Integration points and API interactions
- Data flows across trading/structured product processes
- EUCs and technical dependencies
- Assess feasibility of using Kafka/Event Hub as the central execution and integration layer.
- Evaluate opportunities to reuse existing technology while minimising the introduction of new components.
- Produce detailed systems artefacts, including:
- Current-state and future-state architectures
- Technical gap analysis
- Migration and transition approach
- Support definition of the Target Operating Model from a technology perspective.
- Define the evolution of the Event Hub strategy as a mechanism for transitioning the wider environment.
- Specify orchestration, pipelines, automation, and operational tooling required for the ecosystem.
- Engineering ways of working
- Throughput and value delivery
- Benchmark against industry best practices and recommend changes to improve engineering efficiency and product outcomes.
- Support embedding of recommended practices into BAU teams and expanded engineering teams.
- Produce technical documentation and systems artefacts:
- Interface specifications
- Data flow diagrams (including structured product workflows)
- Functional and non-functional requirements
- Integration specifications
- Transition and migration requirements
- Engage closely with the CTO, architects, product leaders, and engineering managers.
- Facilitate workshops with SMEs across structured products, trading, operations, risk, and technology.
- Present findings, technical recommendations, and roadmap materials to senior leadership.
Required Experience
- Strong Systems Analyst / Technical Analyst background within Financial Services.
- Direct experience working with structured products, trading workflows, or other complex FS products (mandatory).
- Proven capability in system discovery, architecture mapping, and integration analysis.
- Experience with event-driven architecture or technologies such as Kafka (beneficial).
- Strong ability to produce technical documentation and architectural artefacts.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills at both senior business and technical levels.
- Ability to bring clarity and structure to complex, ambiguous technology transformation environments.
