Overview
We are supporting a major financial services transformation programme and are looking for a Senior Data Governance Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise data governance capabilities. This is a senior stakeholder-facing role focused on building practical, scalable governance frameworks aligned to regulatory reporting, data quality, metadata management and modern data platform delivery. The successful candidate will work closely with business, technology, architecture and compliance teams across a complex regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise data governance frameworks, standards and operating models.
- Define data ownership, stewardship, governance forums, controls and escalation processes.
- Support governance for regulatory reporting, auditability, lineage and data quality.
- Develop metadata, glossary, classification and lineage standards.
- Embed governance requirements into modern data platforms and data product delivery.
- Lead workshops and governance workstreams across business and technology stakeholders.
- Produce governance documentation including policies, RACIs, operating models and implementation roadmaps.
- Support governance tooling initiatives across cataloguing, lineage and data quality platforms.
Required Experience
- Strong experience delivering data governance programmes within enterprise environments.
- Financial services experience, ideally within banking, capital markets or regulatory reporting.
- Strong understanding of:
- Data governance operating models
- Metadata management
- Data quality frameworks
- Data lineage and traceability
- Regulatory and compliance requirements
- Experience working with modern cloud and data platform environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience with governance platforms such as Informatica Axon, Collibra, Alation or Microsoft Purview.
- Knowledge of modern data architectures including lakehouse, data mesh and data products.
- Exposure to Azure, Databricks, Snowflake or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with BCBS239, GDPR or enterprise risk frameworks.
- Consulting or large-scale transformation programme experience preferred.
