Job Description
CNBC is looking for an exceptional business journalist to lead CNBC's flagship morning newsletter and the essential daily read for executives, investors, entrepreneurs and business decision-makers around the world. This is more than a morning news roundup. Based in London, this journalist will produce an indispensable guide that helps readers start the day smarter, connecting developments across markets, companies, technology, geopolitics and the economy into a cohesive narrative. Every edition should answer the questions business leaders and investors are asking before the opening bell: What's happening? Why does it matter? What's coming next? It will also curate the best of CNBC by highlighting key insights from the network's reporting and previewing the day's most important interviews, analysis and live programming.
Responsibilities
- Lead the editorial direction and daily production of CNBC's morning newsletter, delivering an indispensable morning guide for executives, investors and business leaders.
- Prepare readers for the business day by explaining the stories, trends and market developments most likely to shape the global economy and financial markets.
- Preview the day's most important earnings, economic reports, geopolitical developments, policy decisions and corporate news, explaining why they matter.
- Highlight the key interviews, reporting and analysis audiences can expect across CNBC's television, digital, live and on-demand platforms.
- Connect overnight developments from Asia, Europe and the United States into a clear, cohesive narrative that helps readers begin the day informed and ahead of the conversation.
- Develop original reporting by cultivating relationships with executives, investors, economists, analysts and policymakers.
- Write with a distinctive voice that builds reader loyalty and establishes the Executive Briefing as an essential daily habit for the global business community.
- Collaborate closely with CNBC's television, digital video, social and editorial teams to surface the strongest reporting and insights from across the newsroom.
- Use audience data and newsletter analytics to continually improve engagement, subscriber growth and reader retention.
- Contribute enterprise reporting and analysis across CNBC's platforms as needed.
- Work as a collaborative team player across all Versant News platforms.
- At CNBC's London bureau, you'll work alongside one of the world's leading business news organizations, collaborating with colleagues across Europe, Asia and the United States to deliver journalism with global impact.

Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience covering business, financial markets, economics or public policy for a major news organization.
- Strong understanding of global business, financial markets, macroeconomics and the forces shaping the international economy.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex news into insightful analysis for executives, investors and business professionals.
- Experience writing newsletters or other recurring editorial products that build audience engagement and establish loyal readership.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to explain complex business developments in a clear, engaging and authoritative voice.
- Excellent news judgment, with the ability to identify the stories that will matter most throughout the coming business day.
- Experience covering global markets, corporate news, central banks, geopolitics and economic policy.
- Proven ability to generate original reporting and cultivate relationships with executives, investors, economists, analysts and policymakers.
- Ability to work independently under tight daily deadlines while coordinating with colleagues across multiple time zones.
- Strong understanding of digital audience engagement and the editorial craft of building a daily reading habit through newsletter journalism.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work seamlessly across editorial, television, digital video, social, product and audience teams.
