An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join the Engineering Team of the UK’s Number 1 Vehicle mounted access platform manufacturer: Versalift United Kingdom Limited based in Kettering. Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, the successful candidate will work on a range of installation projects ranging from 3.5t Pick Up trucks to 16.5t Unimog’s and a vast array of vehicles in-between.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice and help develop Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Technical Instructions (TIs), maintaining electrical design information and instructions for the Production team.
- Continuously check conformity to requirements for mounting lift platforms onto an array of vehicles in accordance with BS EN:280 Mobile elevating work platforms, applicable standards and road regulations; close cooperation with the international design team to determine best‑in‑class solutions.
- Own the full life cycle of design, from working with customers and the sales team to capture design requirements for customisations, through to supporting the service team.
- Compile Bills of Materials onto an Epicor Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool, ensuring BOM accuracy to enable Right First Time production.
- Have experience working in accordance with UKCE (now CA) marking standards.
About you
The successful candidate must be an international team player, intuitively curious, inquisitive, and possess an ingrained interest in engineering. In addition to a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field, the design engineer must be a "go‑getter" and a studious engineer committed to continual improvement for both themselves and the company.

Hours of Work
Monday to Thursday 7.00am – 4.15pm (30 minutes unpaid lunch) Friday 7.00am – 2.30pm (30 minutes unpaid lunch)
Personal Specification and attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is essential.
- 2D CAD system minimum, 3D preferable.
- An interest in commercial vehicle conversion and modification.
- Working to specific standards and setting a high level of quality is essential.
- Must be adept in taking a high level of task ownership and making safe and high‑quality decisions on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and value stream mapping would be advantageous.
- High degree of personal accountability.
- Able to work on own initiative and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Proven team player with a teamwork ethos and open for international cooperation.
