A leading international construction and infrastructure business is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to take ownership of the commercial performance across key projects. The Role
As Commercial Manager, you will provide strong commercial leadership across multiple projects, ensuring robust cost and value management, effective contract administration, and proactive risk control. You will work closely with operational teams and senior stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered in line with financial targets, contractual obligations, and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Management
- Lead cost and value management across projects, ensuring governance systems are implemented and adhered to.
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and cashflow forecasting.
- Review and negotiate contract terms, including bonds, warranties, and guarantees.
- Manage change processes, ensuring all entitlements are identified, recorded, and recovered.
- Drive risk and opportunity management strategies with project teams.
- Provide commercial guidance and training to site-based staff.
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop commercial teams across projects.
- Support structured development and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Analyse project financial data to support strategic decision-making.
- Promote a culture aligned with company values, safety, and performance standards.
- Programme, Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Prepare and monitor long-term cashflow forecasts, identifying variances and corrective actions.
- Lead contractual correspondence and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Develop and implement innovative cost control and reporting systems.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
- Provide expertise on risk allocation, contract conditions, and supply chain agreements.
Essential
- Proven experience in a Commercial Manager role within construction or infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, commercial management, and dispute resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to lead commercial teams on large-scale or multiple projects.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong financial acumen and ability to interpret project data.
- Experience preparing contractual reports and correspondence under tight deadlines.
- Good understanding of design & build and multi-disciplinary project delivery.
Qualifications
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law, Business, or related field.
- Relevant training in contract management, financial control, and negotiation.
- Valid CSCS card.
Desirable
- Background in behavioural safety leadership.
- Experience improving cost control systems and project financial performance.
- Ongoing CPD in construction law or commercial management.
