This is a genuinely unique opportunity to join an organisation at the centre of the energy transition, working alongside a high calibre finance leadership team in a role that offers real breadth, exposure, and development.
Who is our client:
The Net Zero Technology Centre exists to accelerate the development and deployment of technologies required to deliver a net zero North Sea. Working in partnership with industry, developers, and stakeholders, they invest in and support projects across emissions reduction, energy systems integration, and offshore energy innovation. They are now entering an important new phase, evolving from a broad, grant-funded model into a more commercially focused organisation, working more closely with industry to solve real-world challenges. It’s an environment built around people and ideas. Curious, collaborative, and driven by a shared ambition to create meaningful change.
The opportunity:
You’ll step into a small, high-performing team where you’ll gain exposure across a wide range of financial and commercial activities, supporting decision-making at a meaningful level. You’ll work closely with the Head of Finance and wider leadership team, taking ownership of key processes while also building a deep understanding of projects across the organisation. This offers a rare chance to broaden your experience quickly, while gaining valuable insight into the energy transition sector.
The role:
- Month-end close, management reporting, and variance analysis for leadership
- Financial management of commercial, revenue-generating projects across the group
- Balance sheet reconciliations and strengthening of internal controls
- Supporting audit processes and maintaining high-quality financial outputs
- VAT returns, payroll review, and oversight of weekly payment runs
- Financial input into funding applications and project due diligence
- Building relationships across the business to provide insight and support decision-making
- Supporting finance training and contributing to wider team initiatives
It’s a varied role, with real responsibility and the opportunity to influence beyond the numbers.
Who we’re looking for:
We’re looking for a professionally qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) who has:
- A strong grounding in financial reporting, controls, and accounting standards
- The ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Experience working with stakeholders across a business
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to present and influence
- A proactive, organised approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities
You’ll be someone who enjoys variety, is comfortable getting into the detail, but can also step back and see the bigger picture. Equally important is mindset. Collaborative, curious, and aligned with a culture that values inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Why this role:
- A rare opportunity to gain broad, high-quality experience within a leading energy transition organisation
- Exposure to a strong, supportive finance leadership team who actively develop their people
- A varied role that combines technical delivery with commercial insight and stakeholder engagement
- A collaborative, values-led culture with high-performing individuals
Alongside a highly competitive salary, there is an excellent benefits package including enhanced pension, private medical insurance, and a flexible hybrid working model. If this sounds like something you’d like to explore we’d be delighted to have a confidential conversation. As always with Vero, we’ll give you a clear, honest view, helping you decide whether this is the right role for you.
