Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Financial Controller will take full responsibility for the financial management of the organisation, ensuring the business continues to operate from a position of strength. This is a hands-on, highly visible role, leading a small team and working closely with senior leaders to drive both operational and commercial performance. The Financial Controller will develop a deep understanding of the business by engaging directly with projects, attending site visits, and supporting tendering processes.
Key responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of the small accounts department, ensuring all work is completed accurately, efficiently and safely.
- Preparation and presentation of annual budget projections.
- Preparation and presentation of monthly financial reports across all departments, including income, expenditure and vessel-level performance analysis.
- Assisting with client presentations, tenders and bid preparation.
- Maintaining guidelines and reporting systems.
- Supporting the preparation of financial information for external finance applications.
- Managing other duties as reasonably required to support the leaders.
Who we’re looking for
Degree‑educated with at least five years’ experience in a small business environment, ideally in a role that has required both operational involvement and strategic oversight. Highly numerate, detail‑oriented and able to communicate complex financial information clearly to both finance and non‑finance stakeholders. Strong communication skills are essential, as the position requires regular interaction with internal teams, external partners and financial institutions. Experience working in a multi‑currency environment and confidence in managing cash flow would be advantageous.
