We are the internal recruitment partner for our client, a well-established, independent, family-owned enterprise that has been a cornerstone of the UK food-service distribution sector for five decades. We are seeking a proactive IT Systems Administrator to take ownership of the internal IT support function and play a key role in shaping the future technology landscape. Reporting to the IT ERP Systems Manager, you'll be the primary IT contact for approximately 100 users across Head Office, depots, and some remote locations. This is a hands-on role that blends 3rd line support, systems administration, user engagement, and project work, with a strong focus on moving from legacy on-prem systems into the Microsoft Cloud.
Responsibilities:
- Acting as the first and primary contact for all internal IT support queries, maintaining excellent relationships with end users across the business
- Providing 3rd line support across hardware, networking, and applications
- Monitoring servers and business-critical services to ensure maximum uptime
- Updating and maintaining business applications where required
- Training and supporting staff on security, password policies, and cyber awareness
- Creating and delivering an IT induction plan for new employees
- Develop and maintain technical documentation
- Working closely with third-party support vendors
- Playing an active role in all upcoming IT and digital projects.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
Experience:
- Commercial experience in a 3rd line support role
- 3rd line support across servers, desktops, and applications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Clean driving licence and access to a car (occasional travel to other sites/depots – overnight stays covered by the company)
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to juggle priorities
- A genuine desire to learn, self-develop, and progress technically
Technical:
- 3rd line support across servers, desktops, and applications
- Microsoft 365: Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams
- Windows 11
- Windows Server
- Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS
- Backup Restore technologies (Azure Site Recovery, M365 Backup)
- Virtualisation technologies (VMware vCenter)
In return we are offering:
- Salary £31,000 – £35,000 per annum depending on skills and experience
- Monday to Friday working
