Conister Bank Limited, a progressive and entrepreneurial bank within Manx Financial Group PLC, is seeking an outstanding Managing Director to lead the Bank through its next phase of growth and development. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced senior banking executive to take full executive responsibility for a licensed bank operating across the Isle of Man and the United Kingdom.
About the opportunity
Reporting to the Chair of Conister Bank Limited and the CEO of Manx Financial Group PLC, the Managing Director will have overall responsibility for the Bank’s strategy, performance, culture and regulatory compliance. You will lead the Bank’s strategic direction, profitability and business development, while ensuring the highest standards of governance, compliance and ethical conduct. The role requires close engagement with regulators, the Board, senior leadership teams and external stakeholders.
Location and Commitment
- Based in the Isle of Man (open to candidates looking to relocate)
- Full‑time role, Monday to Friday, with additional hours as required to fulfil executive responsibilities
Who we are looking for
We are seeking a highly experienced senior banking executive with the credibility, leadership capability and regulatory expertise to lead a licensed bank operating across the Isle of Man and the UK. The successful candidate will have:
- Extensive senior leadership experience within regulated banking or financial services.
- Previous approval under the UK SMCR (SMF1, SMF3 or SMF18) or equivalent, and a recognised UK professional banking qualification.
- Strong knowledge of the Isle of Man and UK financial services markets, regulatory frameworks and supervisory bodies.
- Experience driving strategy, profitability and sustainable growth within a regulated environment.
- A proven ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams and foster a strong performance-driven culture.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to engage at Board and regulator level.
- High standards of integrity, judgement and accountability, operating to the highest governance and ethical standards.
