The role works closely with internal stakeholders, brokers, insurers, legal, finance, and operational teams to review exposures, negotiate cover, manage renewals, and handle claims efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the group’s insurance portfolio, including renewals, placements, endorsements, and mid-term adjustments.
- Review contractual insurance obligations and ensure policies meet business, lender, and regulatory requirements.
- Work with brokers and insurers to obtain cost-effective and appropriately structured cover.
- Identify new and emerging risks, and recommend suitable mitigation and insurance solutions.
- Oversee claims management, including notification, documentation, negotiation, and resolution.
- Maintain accurate records of policies, claims, premiums, and insurance-related reporting.
- Liaise with finance, legal, operations, procurement, and senior management on insurance matters.
- Monitor market developments, policy changes, and regulatory updates that may affect insurance strategy.
- Support audits, governance processes, and compliance checks related to insurance coverage and documentation.

Essential Requirements
- Required Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in insurance management, risk management, underwriting, broking, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of corporate insurance programmes, claims handling, and policy wording.
- Ability to analyse risk, negotiate effectively, and manage competing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and confident use of data, reporting, and document management tools.
- Experience working with contracts, finance teams, and external advisers is highly desirable.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Finance, Law, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional insurance or risk qualification from Chartered Insurance Institute or Institute of Risk Management is advantageous.
- Relevant industry experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications.
