As the Engineering Standards Manager, you will be responsible for creating Operational Engineering Standards, Processes and ways of working by collaborating with various stakeholders across Verne. These standards need to meet our Customer and Business expectations whilst enabling us to scale in a consistent way. You need to be an excellent communicator (Verbal & Written) and someone who can engage at all levels within our organisation and our customers to implement and embed these processes and standards. This is a hands-on job with an objective to help and support the site teams, ensuring a framework is in place for technical and engineering standards, processes and ways of working that enables a compliant, consistent and customer-focused operational team across Verne. This role will report to the Head of Engineering & Technical.

Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging with all stakeholders within Operations and other departments within Verne, ensuring that all inputs are received to enable process and standards development, roll out, review and improvement. Customer input may also be required from time to time.
  • Technical & Engineering Standards & Process Development: Standards, Processes and ways of working need to be developed and documented ensuring these are fit for purpose and aligned to internal operational goals, while consistently meeting the expectations of Hyperscale tenants. Creation of an Operational Handbook to ensure all Operational Standards and Process are stored within a central repository and easily accessible and navigated by people at all levels within Verne. Own the structure, taxonomy and continuous upkeep of the Operations Handbook, ensuring complex engineering procedures are written in a clear, consistent, and highly usable format for all on-site personnel. Establish and enforce standardised templates for SOPs, MOPs & EOPs to ensure uniformity across all Operations documentation.
  • Technical and Engineering Standards & Process Implementation: Once Standards, Processes and ways of working have been defined by engaging with all required stakeholders and documents created, it is critical to ensure everyone is informed and relevant training with feedback is required ensuring Processes and Standards are understood and implemented. This needs to be a hands-on approach where engagement with the teams is required and scenario-based exercises might be required to ensure full understanding to enable implementation. Review site specific Operational documentation to identify deviations from core standards collaborating with local site leads to align regional practices into a single, unified Operational framework.
  • Technical and Engineering Standards & Process Review, Improvement and Upkeep: Standards and Processes should be reviewed and amended (if required) at least annually or if a need arises to update. Regular quality checks should be carried out, ensuring full compliance to Standards, Processes and ways of working. Actions should be recorded and tracked until completed. Act as the primary document control for Operations by managing the review lifecycle, version tracking, and formal archiving of obsolete procedures to ensure site teams always utilise the latest approved standards/documents.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or similar)
  • Datacentre Experience: Have a really good understanding of datacentre operations and all required standards, processes and ways of working.
  • Stakeholder Influence: Strong track record of interfacing with teams cross organisational at all levels.
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding and experience of data centre power, cooling, and security systems, as well as CMMS platforms.
