Internal Audit Executive β Financial London Borough Council | Colindale, London (Hybrid) | Permanent | Β£48,003 β Β£53,172 We're recruiting an experienced Internal Audit Executive to join a busy in-house audit team within a large London local authority. This is a key role in the Assurance Public Protection directorate, where you'll lead audit assignments end-to-end, provide expert advice to services across the organisation, and help drive continuous improvement in how we deliver assurance. What you'll be doing Planning and delivering a varied programme of internal audits from scoping through to final report, working largely unsupervised. Applying a risk-based approach in line with Global Internal Audit Standards and the organisation's Audit Manual. Identifying and reporting system weaknesses, financial issues, and areas for inclusion in the Annual Audit Plan. Providing technical and professional audit advice to colleagues and senior stakeholders across the council. Supporting the development of junior auditors within the team. Representing the directorate at internal working groups and contributing to training for staff, members, and schools. Maintaining strong links with the Corporate Anti-Fraud Team and contributing to relevant investigations and projects. What we're looking for A relevant professional qualification β CIPFA, AAT, IIA, or another CCAB-recognised equivalent β alongside a degree or equivalent. At least 5 years' internal audit experience within a public sector organisation, conducting audits from start to finish. Strong working knowledge of risk-based internal auditing, local government finance (including S151), and relevant codes of practice. A high level of understanding of the services delivered by a large UK local authority. Knowledge of contract and procurement assurance in a council context.
