The Role
Our client is hiring a Public Sector Sales Consultant to drive growth by building on their strong reputation and relationships across local and central government, the NHS, police, and wider public sector bodies. This is a relationship-led sales role — not cold calling, not chasing random leads. Their growth is driven by the trust they’ve built in the sector through long-standing engagement, event sponsorships, and consistent delivery. You will focus on turning that visibility into conversations, and those conversations into opportunities. They’re looking for someone who knows the public sector landscape, understands how to navigate procurement and tenders, and can represent the business with credibility at events, meetings, and strategic discussions. Experience selling to public sector organisations is essential for this role.
What You’ll Do
- Convert sector relationships and event exposure into qualified sales opportunities
- Lead conversations with public sector stakeholders and decision-makers
- Drive demand generation by leveraging the company's presence at industry events and conferences
- Respond to tenders and write winning proposals
- Help grow the public sector customer portfolio by focusing on reputation, trust, and long-term value
Key Responsibilities
Business development- Monitor procurement portals for relevant opportunities
- Identify and qualify new sales opportunities
- Follow up on interest generated through marketing and partner activity
- Influence procurement discussions by demonstrating a strong understanding of public sector challenges and requirements
- Develop and enhance customer relationships before, during and after the conclusion of contracts
- Track and log activities and use intelligence tools to maintain and enhance pipeline
- Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling
- Engage with public sector leaders to understand their priorities and align the company's solutions to their strategic goals
- Represent the business at events, conferences, and sponsorship opportunities to enhance brand visibility and credibility
- Act as a trusted point of contact for prospects and public sector partners, maintaining open and professional communication
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of tenders
- Develop clear, tailored responses and proposals that address the customer's brief and requirements
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure bids reflect product capabilities and align with strategic goals
- Manage the tender process, tracking opportunities from initial identification through submission and post-submission feedback
- Represent the business with professionalism, credibility, and integrity at all public engagements
- Champion company values in every interaction, reinforcing status as a trusted, ethical public sector partner
Career Progression
- Work alongside the Chief Commercial Officer, with potential to move into senior or strategic roles as the business grows
