We are seeking a
Risk Director to join our ambitious, growing general insurance group.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experience risk professional to lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the Company’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
The Risk Director will be responsible for ensuring material risks are effectively identified, assessed, managed, monitored, and reported across the business, enabling informed decision-making while safeguarding the Company’s financial resilience, customers, and reputation.
This is a Certified Role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead second-line risk activities, including the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, assurance programmes and operational risk oversight.
- Ensure risk frameworks remain effective, proportionate and aligned to business strategy.
- Embed a consistent risk management approach and promote a strong risk culture across the organisation.
- Oversee risk technology enhancements and support first-line ownership of risk.
- Maintain the Risk Appetite Framework and support the Board in setting risk appetite and tolerances.
- Deliver insightful risk reporting and analysis to senior leadership, Executive Committee and Board committees.
- Identify, assess and report emerging risks, including regulatory, economic, geopolitical, cyber and climate-related developments.
- Advise senior management on risk exposure, business impacts and risk exceptions.
- Ensure effective enterprise risk governance, policy management and regulatory compliance.
- Lead the production of CRO reporting, Board papers and key regulatory documentation, including ORSA and SFCR.
- Represent the risk function at relevant governance forums and committees.
About You
- Extensive enterprise risk management experience within the general insurance sector, including regulatory reporting, SM&CR and a broad range of insurance risk categories.
- Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Experience presenting risk matters to Executive Committees, Board Risk Committees and senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrable success in implementing and enhancing Enterprise Risk Management Frameworks and governance processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management, relationship-building, written and verbal communication skills.
