About the Role

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Insurance Accountant to play a key role in our expanding finance function. This position offers a chance to build and shape processes, contribute to strategic decision–making, and support both financial and regulatory reporting across multiple insurance entities. This role has a defined progression plan in place.

The successful candidate will bring a solid foundation in insurance accounting, technical accuracy, and a drive for continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and review of financial statements and detailed balance sheet reconciliations
  • Manage month–end close and trial balance reporting
  • Contribute to Solvency II balance sheets and SCR calculations
  • Support regulatory submissions and annual/quarterly returns
  • Prepare monthly management reports for the CFO reporting pack
  • Liaise across the group on board reporting and statutory disclosures
  • Oversee banking and payment approval processes
  • Support and lead external audits and maintain compliance documentation
  • Improve financial and underwriting system integration and efficiency
  • Mentor junior team members (once appointed) and foster team learning

About You

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in insurance is highly desirable
  • Strong grasp of insurance accounting and regulatory frameworks (Solvency II, IFRS)
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage)
  • Self–starter with excellent communication, analysis, and organisation skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast–paced, evolving environment
