Main purpose of job: The role will support our Head of Compliance with all Compliance matters and provide Compliance support to staff across all of Verlingue UK. In acting as a true partner, we focus on matters such as:

  • Complying with regulatory requirements & industry codes of practice
  • Managing and complying with Verlingue's own policies & procedures
  • Working with the business to positively drive forward efficiency and change in a timely manner
  • Undertaking suitable monitoring & reporting
  • Providing appropriate training and advisory support
  • Delivering guidance and input to support broader strategic goals

Department Overview: This is an exciting opportunity to join a small Compliance team within Verlingue, the Compliance team forms part of the larger Operations team, who are active partners across all Verlingue UK offices, helping deliver upon the business vision and goals. Key Accountabilities:

  • Work with Head of Compliance to provide compliance support to the Group
  • Deputise for Head of Compliance as required
  • Monthly review and update of compliance monitoring plan
  • Production of compliance report for quarterly board meetings
  • Co-ordinate file audits, manage any escalations or disputes and follow up reports to Senior Management
  • Review and update of complaints register. Manage response to any complaints, ensuring dealt with in a timely manner and clients are treated fairly
  • Assist with monthly MI & overview report for OPCO
  • Assist with requirement for Risk committee meetings
  • Update and review of Breach registers. Assist with any investigations for reported Data or Regulatory Breaches
  • Managing queries from FCA, ICO as appropriate. Assisting with completion of FCA regulatory returns
  • Assist with review of Group Policies & Procedures. Ensuring delivery of training by relevant department of Policies & Procedures. Checking and updating all Compliance policies
  • Assist with any E&O matters, maintain and update Potential Defendant log
  • Assist with oversight / auditing & management of AR's (VLM)
  • Checking of Insurer TOBA's. Setting up new Insurer agencies Updating and regularly reviewing TOBA register
  • Monitoring Insurer security and updating register
  • Assisting with completion of external audits from Insurers / our own PI Insurers
  • Managing REG Network portal for Insurers and for Verlingue London Markets Wholesale Brokers. Checking and authorising Verlingue London Markets wholesale agency requests
  • Assisting with approval of Financial Promotions, checking materials, websites and presentations are compliant with Regulatory requirements
  • Updating Financial Promotions register
  • Monitoring & updating of Staff CPD
  • Reviewing hospitality registers
  • Provide updates on any regulation changes / updates and what these mean to the business
  • Assisting with provision of information for annual Balanced Scorecards
  • Assisting with managing requirements for Product Governance / Fair Value Assessments
  • Assisting with annual Accompanied Visits for Client Directors carried out via role play
  • Assist with any requirements for acquisitions
  • Day to day compliance queries
  • Travel to all offices where required
  • Work alongside the broader operations team to ensure mutual support
  • Attend monthly Compliance meeting with Group Compliance

Person Specification:

  • Essential:
  • Qualifications: Dip CII qualified
  • Skills, Knowledge & Attributes:
  • Understanding of FCA requirements
  • Successful career experience to date within insurance broking or within a compliance function for a financial services organisation within General Insurance
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Outlook and MS Teams, in particular)
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Clear ability to multi-task in order to create positive outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
  • A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
