Role Overview

The Verizon Venues & Stadiums Team seeks a Principal Wi‑Fi Consultant/Engineering Architect to lead complex, high‑density Wi‑Fi deployments in stadium and arena environments. This senior‑level position requires a Design Authority who owns the entire project lifecycle—from pre‑sales engagement and design to implementation governance and post‑deployment optimisation.

Responsibilities

  • Credibility & Consulting: Build credibility and effectively consult customers during sales calls using in‑depth industry knowledge.
  • Pre‑Sales & Design: Define requirements, estimate Level of Effort (LOE), and apply deep Wi‑Fi technology knowledge.
  • Discovery & Assessment: Conduct advanced site surveys with drones and 360 cameras to capture detailed design data.

  • Predictive Modelling: Use modelling tools for complex designs and RFP responses to anticipate challenges, optimise performance, and mitigate risks.
  • High‑Level Design: Produce initial HLDs and attend kick‑off meetings to shape project direction.
  • Solutions Architect Support: Collaborate on CPE builds, BOM validation, and design reviews, demonstrating hardware and interoperability expertise.
  • Low‑Level Design & Delivery: Create LLDs and detailed delivery runbooks.
  • Link Between Stakeholders: Act as the central technical liaison among customer, delivery partners (TPVs), and construction teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Design Validation & Audits: Perform RF design reviews and regular technical audits throughout the project to maintain best practices and quality standards.
  • Evaluating Conformance with Design: Review completed work to verify conformity with design and enforce specification adherence.
  • Advisory & Escalation: Serve as the technical escalation point for complex issues and provide expert advice on intricate LLDs.
  • : Guide on configurations, lead advanced troubleshooting, and train delivery partners.
  • Performance Tuning & Optimisation: Analyse RF network data and Philipp optimization strategies for performance tuning.
  • Event Support: Monitor versa network health during events, troubleshoot issues, and suggest optimisations to maintain seamless connectivity.

Qualifications

  • BSc or BEng in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive hands‑on experience with leading Wi‑Fi and network vendors (Extreme Networks, Cisco, Juniper, Aruba).
  • Significant experience in Wi‑Fi network engineering, including mobility networks, protocols, and OS.
  • Demonstrable expertise in designing and deploying complex, high‑density Wi‑Fi solutions.

Even Better If You Have

  • Direct experience developing stadium RF designs, including propagation modelling and site surveys with Ekahau or Hamina.
  • Proven skills in data collection, troubleshooting, interference analysis, and high‑density RF optimisation.
  • Expertise in solution design, leading technical discussions, vetting }}>
  • Strong communication and relational skills; ability to build trusted advisor relationships and articulate complex topics.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering and construction techniques.
  • Experience with Hamina RF Modelling Software.

Desired Industry Certifications

  • CWNE (Certified Wireless Networking Expert) or 5+ years of direct RF engineering experience.
  • CWDP (Certified Wireless Design Professional).
  • ExtremeKam; Mein equivalent.
  • CCNP/CCIE (Wireless).
  • Hamina Certified Network Architect.
  • Ekahau Certified Survey Engineer (ECSE).
