Verition Fund Management LLC (“Verition”) is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008. Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Global Credit, Global Convertible, Volatility & Capital Structure Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets Trading, and Global Quantitative Trading.
We are seeking a Quantitative Analyst to join one of our Fixed Income trading teams. This is an ideal position for an early career applicant looking to join an investment team with a path to eventual alpha generation and portfolio management.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop various tools in Python that will be crucial for analysis, research, trading, and risk management purposes
- Design and build robust and scalable systems that can automatically collect, store, and transform data coming from various sources
- Use these tools/systems to help direct and augment investment theses and processes
- Enhance current risk management systems and create efficient risk visualization tools
- Ensure integrity of data management pipeline and the underlying data itself, and actively identify, diagnose, and remedy data issues
- Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements for existing systems and platforms
- Communicate regularly with team managers across Portfolio managers, Ops, and Technology
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal tech and data teams, researchers, traders, and outside vendors
- Commitment to safeguarding team information and adhering to business sensitivity
- Ultimately be responsible for adding discernable allocatable value to the business bottom line
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of professional experience (finance experience preferable).
- High proficiency in VBA, Python, Linux and Bloomberg Terminal
- High attention to detail with great critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and ability to tackle complex design problems systematically and methodically
- Ability to prioritize tasks appropriately and communicate effectively with proper escalation of issues, risks, and concerns
- Interest in financial data and in joining a new, growing team
- Passion for data management
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Fast learner, able to pick up new concepts/tasks/projects quickly and unafraid to ask questions
