Role: Special Needs Assistant

The Role:
Veritas Education are working with a cluster of primary schools in the Harrogate and surrounding areas across the North Yorkshire region, looking to recruit multiple Special Needs Support Assistants and TA's.
The primary schools Veritas Education work with support children from 4 to 11 years old (Reception to Year 6), who are accessing mainstream education, but require additional support across the classroom or within their internal SEN provision.
The ideal candidate for this role….
- Confident supporting a range of learning needs such as Autism, Asperger's, Down Syndrome, behavioural needs, and various communication needs (Non and Pre Verbal requirements).
- Happy working on a 1:1 basis with children from 5- to 11-year-olds
- Experience in special needs curriculum, and support techniques like the use of Makaton, behaviour management skills and PECS is preferred.
- Confident in supporting a range of behaviour, including sensory needs, crisis moments and at risk of absconding.
- Comfortable working alongside a range of other support staff, teachers and SLT to provide a safe, caring and nurturing learning environment for all children.
Schools would prefer applicants to have previous SEN experience within schools or similar settings, but are open to seeing graduates or trainee TA's looking to get into the sector, working with primary school aged SEN learners.
