An experienced Teaching Assistant is needed for an ASAP start in a supportive and welcoming secondary school in Hackney. As an experienced Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with students with students aged 11-16 with SEN within a mainstream secondary environment. This is a great opportunity to work in a supportive school that values their staff, offeres CPD and has low staff turnover. The school are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant who can hit the ground running. The right experienced Teaching Assistant will be warm, friendly and have a desire to support young people’s learning.

You will be working on a 1-1 and small group basis with students who need additional support, often with SEN or other additional needs. This role is best suited to someone who is patient, proactive and empathetic. Behaviour at the school is typically very good, and the school promotes a positive and nurturing enviornment. The school are looking for individuals with experience as a TA (or similar support role) within a secondary school.

The school is looking to meet with succesful applicants both beofre and after February half term and this is for a full time (Mon-fri) position.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with SEN within a mainstream secondary school

  • Supporting students up to GCSE within various departments

  • Working with students on a 1-1 and small group basis

  • Running small group literacy intervention classes, and identifying which students would further benefit from additional support

  • Encourage and fascilitate independent learning

  • Supporting classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment

  • Helping to assess student progress and providing feedback

  • A bachelors degree (minimum lower second)

  • A desire to work with children and young people. and to support their learning

  • Experience working with children aged 11-16 in a school enviornment

  • A desire to work with students with SEN, and an undersanding of the types of barriers they may face

  • Ability to build and form working relationships with students, parents and staff;

to work flexibly and to work as a member of a team.

  • Ability to work on own initiative, + All applications are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, professional reference checks, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) in line with our stringent safeguarding policy

  • Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and all employment breaks must be explained

  • You must have legal right to work in the UK

  • You must be willing to attend a registration interview
