We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant and nurturing primary school team. The successful candidate will support the class teacher in delivering high-quality education and care to children aged 5-7 years, helping them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities.
- Work with small groups or individual pupils to reinforce learning objectives.
- Assist with phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy interventions.
- Promote positive behaviour and help manage classroom routines.
- Support children with additional needs, including SEN, EAL, or emotional/behavioural challenges.
- Prepare resources and materials for lessons and activities.
- Supervise pupils during break times, transitions, and school trips.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and behaviour.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including assemblies and events.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting.
- Understanding of the KS1 curriculum and child development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.
- Good organisational skills and initiative.
Desirable:
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience supporting children with SEN or behavioural needs.
- First Aid or Safeguarding training.
