We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Primary Teacher to join a specialist primary school in Skelmersdale, supporting pupils aged 4-11 with a range of additional learning needs. This rewarding role involves delivering an engaging, personalised curriculum that enables every child to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons across the primary curriculum to meet individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Develop, implement, and review Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets and personalised learning plans.
  • Create a safe, structured, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes positive learning experiences.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies to maximise achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, the SENCO, therapists, parents, and external professionals to support pupil development.
  • Foster pupils' confidence, independence, communication, and social skills through positive relationships and consistent behaviour support strategies.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential).
  • Previous experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs, ideally within a primary setting.
  • Strong understanding of a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech, language and communication difficulties.
  • Ability to adapt the primary curriculum to meet the needs of individual learners.
  • Excellent classroom management with a patient, flexible, and nurturing approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
