Primary SEN Teacher - Skelmersdale

Location: Skelmersdale

Start Date: ASAP

Pay: 175 - 230 per day

Are you a caring and committed Primary SEN Teacher looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners? We are seeking an enthusiastic and nurturing SEN Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary SEN setting in Skelmersdale, supporting pupils across EYFS and Primary age ranges. This role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about early intervention, personalised learning, and helping children with additional needs thrive both academically and emotionally.

You will be working with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties, and SEMH. Teaching will be tailored to individual needs, with a strong focus on structure, routine, and positive relationships. The school places high value on inclusion, wellbeing, and close collaboration with families and external professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Be a confident and adaptable primary classroom teacher, experienced or keen to develop skills within SEN
  • Have a strong understanding of the primary curriculum and how to adapt it to meet diverse learning needs
  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons aligned with EHCP targets
  • Create a calm, supportive learning environment that promotes confidence and independence
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Contribute to a shared ethos that celebrates progress, however small

Essential requirements

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • A genuine passion for working with primary-aged children with SEN
  • Strong behaviour management, communication, and teamwork skills
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and child protection
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply
  • Previous SEN experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from mainstream primary teachers who are eager to transition into SEN and develop specialist skills in a supportive environment.
