Veritas Education is seeking a proactive and conscientious School Attendance Officer to join a thriving school in Kirklees. We are looking for a dedicated individual to manage and improve school attendance, ensuring that all students have the best possible opportunity to succeed by maximising their time in school. The successful candidate will work closely with school leadership, parents, and external agencies to promote positive attendance and address barriers to regular school attendance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring Attendance: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, ensuring compliance with school policies and procedures.
- Analysis and Reporting: Regularly analyse attendance data to identify patterns, trends, and areas of concern. Provide regular reports to school leadership and advise on strategies for improvement.
- Liaison with Parents & Carers: Communicate with parents and carers regarding student absence, ensuring they are informed about attendance expectations and the importance of regular school attendance.
- Interventions & Support: Work closely with students, parents, and school staff to implement interventions to improve attendance for individuals or groups of students facing challenges.
- Support for Vulnerable Students: Identify students who may be at risk of poor attendance and provide appropriate support, including working with external agencies where necessary.
- Follow-up on Absence: Ensure that all absences are followed up promptly and that accurate records are kept of communications and interventions.
- Policy & Compliance: Assist in the development and implementation of the school's attendance policy, ensuring it aligns with statutory requirements and best practices.
Key Requirements:
- Strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Previous experience in an attendance or administrative role, ideally within a school or educational setting.
- Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and propose appropriate interventions to improve attendance.
- A proactive, solution-focused attitude with a commitment to supporting students and improving their educational outcomes.
