The school is now looking for a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team and help support the educational and emotional development of the children in their care.
Role Overview:
As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students\’ learning and well-being. Your understanding of psychology will enable you to assist in creating a positive and supportive classroom environment, while providing tailored support to students who may need extra help. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in education, particularly if you\’re considering a future career in teaching or educational psychology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons, working with individual students and small groups to support their learning.
- Provide tailored interventions for students with additional learning needs or emotional challenges.
- Support students with their social and emotional development, using strategies that encourage positive behaviour and self-regulation.
- Observe students and track their progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
- Assist in preparing classroom resources and activities that align with the curriculum.
- Contribute to the creation of an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere.
- Collaborate with the wider teaching and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for all students.
About You:
The ideal candidate will be a Psychology graduate who is passionate about working with children and supporting their development. We are looking for someone who possesses the following qualities:
- A degree in Psychology (2:1 or above preferred).
- Experience working with children in any capacity (voluntary work, tutoring, placements, etc.) is desirable but not essential.
- A strong understanding of child development and psychological principles.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children and staff.
- A caring, patient, and proactive approach to working with young learners.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
