A warm and nurturing primary school in Preston is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide personalised support for a Year 1 pupil with ASD. The role will begin on Thursday 5th February 2026 and will run until the end of the academic year (July 2026). This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a child's school experience while becoming part of a friendly, supportive school community.
About the Role
- Providing 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with ASD, helping them to engage, learn, and participate in school life
- Hours: 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday to Friday
- Working closely with the class teacher and SEND team to implement tailored strategies and adapt learning activities
- Supporting the child's communication, emotional regulation, confidence, and independence
- Assisting with routines, transitions, and creating a calm, structured learning environment
- Ongoing support throughout the placement from Skye Harrison, Consultant at Veritas Education
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience supporting pupils in a primary or SEND setting
- Understanding of ASD and strategies that encourage engagement and communication
