The role is due to start in September 2025. Schools are open to seeing applicants for paid trial/shadow days over the summer term, ready to confirm all successful applicants for the new academic year.

The Job:

Veritas Education are working with a mainstream primary school in Leeds who are recruiting for their in-house SEN provision. The provision supports children from EY to year 6 age groups, with a range of learning, communication, sensory and SEMH/behavioural needs. The in-house provision is a fantastic setting with up-to-date facilities, with a positive, safe and inclusive ethos to help support each learner and their educational plans.

The ideal applicant:

  • Previous experience supporting children of primary age groups, between early years and year 6 within a school, educational or other childcare setting.
  • Experience supporting a range of needs, such as Autism, Asperger's, communication/non-verbal/pre-verbal requirements, and sensory needs.
  • Confident in managing challenging or crisis behaviour, being able to implement de-escalation techniques and diversion tactics.
  • Be comfortable working on a 1:1 basis with specific learners, following their care plans to help those learners access all aspects of their education.
  • Work in unison with teachers, other support staff and external support services to provide a holistic and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help support the school's ethos of promoting social, emotional and academic development of all its students around school.
