Level 6 Teaching Assistant – Blackburn & Darwen
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Contract Type: Long‑term
Veritas Education is working with primary schools across Blackburn and Darwen seeking a confident and capable Level 6 Teaching Assistant to deliver pre‑planned lessons across both KS1 and KS2. This role involves leading classes in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning using work that has already been set. It is well‑suited to someone who is comfortable taking responsibility for the classroom and can maintain a focused and positive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver pre‑planned lessons for KS1 and KS2.
- Manage whole‑class behaviour and maintain a focused learning environment.
- Support pupils’ understanding of tasks and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Provide general classroom support when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Level 6 Teaching Assistant qualification.
- At least 6 months of classroom experience, working across both KS1 and KS2.
- Confidence delivering lessons and managing whole‑class behaviour.
- A proactive, organised, and adaptable approach.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow lesson plans effectively.
Safeguarding & Application Requirements
- All applicants will undergo an Enhanced DBS Check, reference checks, and any necessary overseas police clearances (if applicable) in line with safeguarding policies.
- Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment and explain any gaps.
- Legal right to work in the UK and willingness to attend a registration interview.
