An established and growing Special Educational Needs school located in West Drayton is seeking a dedicated and experienced High Level Teaching Assistant to join its specialist education team. The school provides a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. The school site offers modern facilities, including sensory rooms, therapeutic spaces, and extensive outdoor learning areas.
The High-Level Teaching Assistant will work under the direction of the class teacher and senior leaders to deliver high-quality learning support to pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). This role involves supporting differentiated learning activities, leading small group or one-to-one interventions, and contributing to pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver and support engaging learning activities and interventions for individuals and small groups under the teacher's guidance.
- Adapt resources and teaching materials to meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEN.
- Promote inclusion, positive behaviour, and independence through effective strategies and communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton, AAC).
- Monitor pupil progress, maintain a safe learning environment, and contribute to team meetings and professional development.
- HLTA Status or equivalent Level 4 qualification.
- Demonstrable experience supporting children or young people with ASC and/or MLD.
- Strong understanding of SEN strategies and inclusive classroom practice.
- Confidence in delivering lessons or activities independently.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- A caring, patient, and professional approach to working with children.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection principles.
- Training in Team Teach or similar positive behaviour management techniques.
- Experience with PECS, Makaton, or AAC systems.
- Previous experience in a specialist SEN setting or alternative provision.
- Competitive daily rate: £140 - £160 per day (depending on experience).
