We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a dynamic SEMH school in Lewisham. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students in overcoming barriers to learning and achieving their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies tailored to individual student needs.
  • Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and emotional regulation.
  • Support teaching staff in managing classroom behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, behaviour incidents, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies to support holistic development.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of personalised behaviour plans.
  • Promote inclusion and ensure all students feel safe, respected, and valued.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour, using de-escalation techniques.
  • Encourage resilience, self-esteem, and independence in students.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (school-based experience essential).
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to challenging situations with empathy.
  • Enhanced Child DBS (on the update service or willing to apply).
  • Immediate availability.
