Veritas Education is excited to be partnering with a highly respected SEN school in the Leeds area that is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teacher to cover a maternity leave for 12 months, starting in Easter 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to work with students who require additional support, and to make a lasting impact in a nurturing and dynamic environment.
The Role & Key Requirements:
As an SEMH Teacher, you will be working closely with students who face social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Your role will be crucial in creating a positive and engaging learning experience tailored to each child's individual needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strong behaviour management skills - effectively managing and redirecting challenging behaviour, creating a calm and productive classroom environment.
- Adaptation of teaching techniques - using a variety of methods to engage and motivate students with SEMH needs, ensuring they remain focused and supported throughout their lessons.
- Passion for SEMH education - a deep commitment to supporting students with SEMH, fostering their emotional well-being, and helping them achieve their full potential.
- Curriculum delivery - teaching across a range of core subjects while demonstrating strong subject knowledge, ensuring lessons are accessible and engaging for all students.
- Fostering development - creating a nurturing environment that promotes students' emotional and social development, helping them build independence, re-integrate into consistent learning, and develop key life skills.
