Location: West London (Alternative Provision)

Contract Type: Full-Time (Term-Time Only)

Salary: 110 - 130 per day

An established Alternative Provision in West London is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their supportive and forward‑thinking team. The provision caters for students aged 11‑16 who face barriers to mainstream education and require structured, personalised support to achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small‑group support to students, following teacher direction and using tailored strategies to meet individual learning needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to promote engagement, self‑regulation, and confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and fellow LSAs to share best practice and contribute to consistent behaviour and learning approaches.
  • Participate in team meetings, contribute to discussions on interventions, and support the monitoring of student progress.
  • Help maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment, promoting positive behaviour and safeguarding student wellbeing.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working as an LSA or support worker in a secondary SEN, PRU, or Alternative Provision setting.
  • Proven experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour or social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).
  • Familiarity with curriculum areas such as English, PSHE, and Humanities.
  • Strong communication, de‑escalation, and interpersonal skills.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people from challenging backgrounds succeed academically and personally.
