We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Knowsley, Liverpool, supporting pupils aged 4-16 with a range of additional learning needs. Working closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help create a positive, inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs both in the classroom and during individual or small group interventions
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons across the curriculum
- Help implement EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
- Promote pupils' independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
- Support the management of behaviour using positive and consistent strategies
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, parents, and external professionals
- Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable
- Understanding of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech, language and communication difficulties
- A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
