We are recruiting an experienced and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support pupils within a specialist educational setting. This role involves working with children and young people with additional needs, providing personalised learning support and contributing to their social, emotional and academic development. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusive education, and professional development, while working collaboratively with staff, families and external professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in both individual and group settings
- Provide differentiated, personalised learning support tailored to individual needs
- Assist with or lead learning activities in line with agreed curriculum plans
- Monitor, assess, record and report on pupil progress and attainment
- Support the planning, delivery and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Act as a mentor for allocated pupils and maintain regular communication with parents/carers
- Attend staff meetings, training days and continuous professional development activities
Experience
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, or HLTA
- Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
- Good communication, organisational and teamwork skills
